BURNABY WELCOMES JIM MILLIGAN AS HEAD COACH & GENERAL MANAGER

The Burnaby Lakers Sr A Lacrosse Club are pleased to announce Jim Milligan has been hired as our General Manager and Head Coach.

Jim Milligan, a native of Peterborough Ontario brings a wealth of Coaching and Management experience to the Burnaby Lakers. Jim was offensive coordinator with the Peterborough Lakers for 10 years (2004-2014) adding Assistant General manager to his duties in 2011. In that time Jim won 5 Mann Cups and 6 MSL Championships. Jim also has a worked in the National Lacrosse League since 2003. Currently Jim is an Assistant Coach with the Vancouver Stealth, having previously held Coaching roles with the Edmonton Rush (2005-2007), Chicago Shamrox (2008), Toronto Rock (2009), Philadelphia Wings (2011-2014), New England Black Wolves in 2015. Jim also has a Gold Medal as Assistant Coach with Team Canada at 2011 FIL World Indoor Championships. As a player, Jim won 3 Minto Cups and played 13 years in MSL with Peterborough, Brooklin & Six Nations. With all this incredible experience, the Club is delighted to welcome Jim to The Swamp.

The Burnaby Lakers would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Paul Rowbotham for his tireless commitment and dedication to the Club for more than 25 years. He was instrumental in moving the team to Burnaby in 1990 and he has worked hard to ensure the team remained strong and competitive in the WLA. As a result of his dedication to the Club and his knowledge of the game that he loves, Paul earned the enduring respect of the entire lacrosse community in British Columbia.

We would also like to thank Rory McDade for his 3 years as our Head Coach. During this time, Rory was very popular with not only the players but everyone else in the organization. Under Rory's guidance, the team continued to improve year after year.

The Burnaby Lakers, "Burnaby's Team" is committed to our fans, sponsors and players to put the most competitive team on floor every game, with the goal of winning a WLA & National Championship.

Club President Ed Safarik, "In 6 years we have worked to build Burnaby from a last place team to a contender, and with the addition of Jim we take another step closer to our goal, we are all looking forward to a very successful season."
