Jake & Maki are WLA’s new social media crew

Burnaby, BC: May 12, 2022 — The Western Lacrosse Association is excited to announce Jake Richardson and Maki Jenner as its social media coordinators for the 2022 season.

The two bring years of lacrosse knowledge and experience despite their relatively young ages. Jenner, a Victoria native, has made her mark in the lacrosse world with her recent TSN segments “LaxFacts” during the NLL on TSN game of the week. Richardson, a New Westminster native, has built up a marketing company just three years out of university.

Jenner, who also writes for the lacrosse blog Lacrosse Flash while continuing her education in sports communications, has worked for other teams, including the New York Riptide and Victoria Shamrocks.

Richardson, who earned a business management degree at North Carolina’s University of Mount Olive, started two businesses a mere four months apart: Jake Richardson Consulting Group, a marketing agency, and JR Training System, as a strength and conditioning coach.

Jenner and Richardson know the game and the league intimately. Both played NCAA lacrosse in the US and both have strong family ties to the WLA — Jenner’s father and uncle competed for the Victoria Shamrocks while the Richardson’s played with the New West Salmonbellies association.

“We are thrilled to have Jake and Maki on board for our first season back in action,” said WLA commissioner Paul Dal Monte. “Not only can they bring a unique perspective to our media, but their knowledge of the game will help take our league to the next level.”

The WLA season begins Friday, May 27 when the New Westminster Salmonbellies travel to Victoria to take on the Shamrocks — a game that will be broadcast live on CHEK TV. For full schedule information, go to wlalacrosse.com.
