Salmonbellies Take Season Opener 15-6 Against Timbermen

New Westminster kicked off their season in thrilling fashion last night at Queen's Park Arena, as the Salmonbellies defeated the Nanaimo Timbermen with an impressive 15-6 win.

Leading the charge for New Westminster was Kevin Crowley, who earned the game's first star recognition with a remarkable performance. Crowley was an offensive force, tallying four goals and adding four assists. His ability to find the back of the net and set up his teammates proved to be a significant factor in the Salmonbellies' victory.

The second star of the game was Salmonbellies' goaltender Cam Macleod. Macleod's exceptional netminding kept the Timbermen at bay throughout the game. He made 34 saves, denying Nanaimo's scoring attempts time and time again. Macleod's remarkable performance between the pipes played a crucial role in preserving his team's lead and securing the win.

Although the Timbermen faced a tough defeat, they did have their standout player in Zach Manns. Manns earned the game's third star for his impressive offensive contributions, scoring two goals and assisting on two others.

The Salmonbellies' victory in their season opener sets a positive tone for the team as they embark on their 2023 WLA campaign after missing the playoffs last season. Their dominant performance both offensively and defensively sends a clear message to the league that New Westminster will be a force to be reckoned with this season.

The next game for the New Westminster Salmonbellies is May 31st, where they will face off against the Langley Thunder at Langley Events Centre. The Nanaimo Timbermen are back in action on May 27th against the Coquitlam Adanacs at Poirier Sports Complex.
