Five goals in each of the first and third periods pushed the Langley Thunder to a 10-5 victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Thunder travelled to Nanaimo's Frank Crane Arena to battle the Timbermen in Western Lacrosse Association action with the win improving Langley to 3-1 with the win. Nanaimo saw their record fall to 1-2.
Langley jumped out to a 5-1 lead as Robert Church scored a pair while Tristan Kirkham, Dane Dobbie and Curtis Dickson each scored once. The Timbermen would cut the deficit down to two after 40 minutes as they held the Thunder scoreless, the first time in 12 periods Langley has failed to find the back of the net.
And 49 seconds into the final period, Nanaimo made it a one-goal game. But Langley's offence took over from that point on, scoring five of the game's final six goals for the 10-5 final.
Church (3+1) and Dickson (1+3) had four-point games while Dobbie (2+1) and Chase Scanlan (2+0) each scored twice. Jake Boudreau and Kirkham had the other goals for Langley. Frank Scigliano was the first star of the game following his 33-save performance.
Justin Geddie made 33 saves on 43 shots in the Nanaimo goal while Zach Manns led the offence with three goals. Conrad Chapman and Tyson Roe had the other Timbermen goals.
The Thunder are now off until June 14 when they host the Coquitlam Adanacs at Langley Events Centre. Game time is 7:30pm.
